I always figured as far as sins go
Sloth wouldn’t be that bad
Cause it’s not one of the big three of temptation
Or envy, pride or wrath
But appearances can be deceiving
What might seem harmless can be the most insidious
And sloth won’t let you go once he’s got you in his grasp
With his soft-spoken whispers
Hard work is oh so hard, don’t you just want to sit and relax
Every time you think you have found your motivation
He hides it when you are sleeping
And all your best-laid plans, are scattered in the morning light
What’s the point in trying, if the sun won’t even shine
Pale as fog, they stand by your side
While you look quite the same
Blind to how you’re wasting away
Your eyes grow more sunken each morning
And all food has lost its taste
Numb to your own starvation
And how muscle wastage makes you sway
The thought of facing a new day too overwhelming
Your words are bone dry whispers as you agree
Too...hard....why...try...
You turn back toward your bed
Waking drains your energy, and now you need to rest
The tendrils he commands act as your guide
While victory paints his lips, in as close as they’ll come to a smile
That’s right...Sleep, for a while
