The Lonely Little Boat

Writer's picture: Alicia CaraAlicia Cara

I wasn’t always the only boat There were lots of us, once Everywhere you looked there were boats With sails in every colour And the shouts of the men Mixed with the gulls and swaying ropes, was music Then one day the song ended Everyone started to pack up and sail away The harbour wasn’t safe Too many people, they said I don’t know what it meant All I know is, one day my friends started to leave And I don’t know when they’ll come back The gulls are still around Though they can’t tell me much They don’t speak human But right now there aren’t any humans They say every harbour is like this Everywhere is like this What does it mean? I’m trying my best to keep smiling Look how lovely the water is No boats in sight, only blue But I would rather never see the ocean again Because it means it’s full of all my friends
